Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is a synthetic mineral used in toothpaste as a
whitening agent and filler. It is also widely used in oral care products and
consumer applications such as cosmetics, plastics, and food supplements.
Functions in Toothpaste
Abrasive: PCC with ~0.7 micron particles removes plaque, stains, and deposits from enamel.
Thickening: PCC particles between 2–4 microns act as a mild thickening agent.
